Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-12 · Last updated: 2026-08-15

This policy explains what information Broke or Not collects, how it is used and stored, and how you can request that it be deleted.

Account data

When you create an account, we collect your email address. Authentication is managed through Amazon Cognito, which stores your password in hashed form — we never see or store your password in plaintext. We send a one-time verification code to your email address to confirm it belongs to you.

Financial data

We store the incomes, expenses, balances, categories, and notes you enter into the app so we can calculate and display your projected running balance on the calendar.

Hosting & storage

All data is stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the us-east-1 (N. Virginia) region.

No selling of data

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar storage for authentication and session management, and for anonymous usage analytics (via Google Analytics) that help us understand how Broke or Not is used. We never use cookies for advertising.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect aggregate usage statistics — such as pages visited, device type, and how visitors found us. This data is not linked to your account, and we never share your personal or financial information with Google.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. This permanently erases your account and your financial data.

If you are unable to access the app, you can instead request deletion by emailing support@brokeornot.com with your request. We will action the deletion of your account and your financial data.
